Home from Home was established in 1996 and was the first home dog boarding agency in the UK. We are the largest agency in London and throughout Essex, Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.

Clients who use Home from Home prefer not to put their dogs into boarding kennels, and are looking to board their dog in a safe, clean, caring family home. We pride ourselves on the service we offer and have an excellent reputation within the pet industry and veterinary surgeons.

Dogs that are placed by Home from Home are housetrained and non-aggressive. We only accept large dogs that have a calm, placid nature and are well behaved. We do consider young puppies, but you can state if you are not happy to do so. You will be able to specify which breeds of dogs fit in with your lifestyle best.

We are very flexible and will be happy for you to take just an occasional dog or we can approach you with as many bookings as you wish. Dog boarders do have regular dogs that they care for time and time again however, this is not regular work; some of our bookings are just for weekends and others can be for over a month at a time.

As a dog boarder, you will be expected to feed, walk and care for the dogs as would their owners and most of all be an animal lover. The questionnaire the owner completes gives lots of information about their dog's temperament and habits. This information is passed onto you. You will get to meet the dog before the booking starts to ensure that you are happy. You have the option to reject the booking once you have met the dog if you feel uncomfortable.

We provide you with a full emergency back up service 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, so that should any problems occur you can contact us at any time.

The Dogs

'Home from Home' prefers to recruit carers who are flexible about the size and type of the dog which they are boarding. Could you fill in the following questions giving as much details as possible to help us ensure that we place the right dogs with the right carers.

Some dogs prefer to sleep in the owner's bedroom, but in their baskets, would this be acceptable to you? If not, which areas would it have access to?
We do not usually accept puppies, but some carers are happy to take them. Would you be willing to take a puppy if asked considering it was housetrained and that you only had to put paper down at night and if they were a small breed?
Are you willing to care for older dogs?
Are you willing to care for lap dogs which need special attention? For example, prefers to sit on your lap for cuddles, cleaning around the eyes, bathing them once a week or administering medication?
Sometimes we board extra large dogs such as Pyrenean Mountain Dogs or Great Danes; we do have trouble placing these even when they are very obedient. Would you be willing to take on larger dogs like this?
We occasionally have a customer who owns three dogs; would you be willing to care for three dogs providing they live together?
